Unity and Love: Bishop Aldhelm's Pupils Deliver Donations to Food Bank

Bishop Aldhelm's Church of England Primary School’s student leaders demonstrated the power of community action this week with a hands-on visit to the Poole Food Bank. The school’s Head Boy and Head Girl, along with the newly appointed House Captains, delivered and helped sort through a significant collection of donations generously provided by the school community.

The visit served as a practical example of the school’s core values of unity and love in action, providing the young leaders with a direct understanding of local charitable work and the importance of supporting those in need.

"Seeing our student leaders show such initiative, care, and practical support for the community is incredibly inspiring," said Headteacher, Scott Tait. "This experience is a beautiful way for them to live out the values we teach every day. It’s not just about academic learning; it’s about nurturing compassionate citizens who understand their role in a wider society.”

The student team spent time at the food bank, not only dropping off the goods but also working alongside volunteers to prepare the donations for distribution, gaining valuable insight into the logistics of running a vital service.

Assistant Headteacher, Victoria Loughman, who accompanied the pupils, commented on the impact of the experience. "The children were fantastic. They showed real commitment and focus while sorting the donations. Moments like these cement the fact that our school is a place where unity and love are more than just words on a page, they are principles that guide our actions and create a tangible positive difference in our local area.”

The school thanks all the families and staff whose generous donations made this community outreach successful and looks forward to continuing its partnership with the Poole Food Bank.
