Early Years Foundation Stage
Welcome to EYFS
We are delighted to welcome you to our Early Years Foundation page. The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is a crucial time for your child’s development. It provides them with a safe, stimulating, and nurturing environment where they can learn, grow, and thrive through play and exploration.
It Provides the Building Blocks for Future Learning: We focus on creating a safe, secure, and stimulating environment for children, promoting their development across a range of areas including literacy, maths, physical development, understanding the world and so much more!
- A Unique Child: Every child is unique and constantly learning. We emphasise celebrating each child’s abilities and potential.
- Positive Relationships: Children thrive when they feel loved, safe, and secure. Building strong relationships with caring adults and peers is at the heart of our EYFS provision.
- Enabling Environments: Our curriculum is set on the principle that children learn best when they are settled and comfortable within the learning environment and that a child-centred approach for young children is crucial for their development and success. Therefore, our teaching and learning is carefully crafted to reflect the needs and interests of our children, with imagination and creativity woven throughout.
- Learning and Development: We give every child the best possible start to school life, supporting their development in a nurturing and inclusive environment. By focusing on key areas of learning and development, we ensure that children are well-prepared to thrive in their educational journey and beyond.
While some resources may be used with specific groups within EYFS, every child learns differently. We cater to individual needs and ensure all our pupils have the support they need to flourish.

Understanding the world |
We encourage and teach our children to be curious and caring when it comes to the world around them, asking questions and engaging with nature and science in our everyday interactions. We explore the diversity of communities and help children feel proud and confident of what makes them special and unique. Learning opportunities come in a variety of formats from stories to interactions with trusted adults and friends to offsite visits, all of this building children’s vocabulary and oracy. |
|
Expressive arts and design |
We are constantly offering opportunities to develop children’s artistic and cultural awareness supporting their imagination and creativity. We have regular opportunities to engage with the visual arts, enabling them to explore and play with a wide range of materials, and then create and mark make in a variety of ways. Singing and music are a part of everyday life in preschool helping children build vital listening skills and also confidence to perform in front of their trusted adults and friends. |
