Our current reflection...

This week, we have started our term with a focus on how we live alongside one another, considering the British Values of individual liberty; rule of law; democracy; mutual respect and tolerance.

Luke 10:27

“...Love your neighbour as yourself.”

Dear God,
Thank you for our school family.
Help us to listen to one another and make fair choices,
To follow rules that keep everyone safe, and to use our voices kindly and respectfully.
Teach us to value every person,
To show tolerance and understanding,
And to enjoy our freedom while caring for others.
May our words and actions today help make our school a happy and welcoming place for all. Amen.

Psalm 23

Psalm 23 has become a favourite for the children at our school. It is a Psalm that reminds us that God is protecting us and guiding us through every day! We have tried hard to learn this Psalm in our worship times and learn about how our school values are shown through this Psalm. Why not give it a read here?

The LORD is my shepherd; I have everything I need.

He lets me rest in fields of green grass and leads me to quiet pools of fresh water. He gives me new strength.

He guides me in the right paths, as he has promised. Even if I go through the deepest darkness,

I will not be afraid, LORD, for you are with me. Your shepherd's rod and staff protect me.

You prepare a banquet for me, where all my enemies can see me;you welcome me as an honoured guest

and fill my cup to the brim. I know that your goodness and love will be with me all my life; and your house will be my home as long as I live.

Here we learn that Jesus is our shepherd - He leads and inspires us, He provides us with food, drink and a place to sleep, He also protects us and walks with us through difficult times. Much like the leaders in our lives - parents, teachers or people in authority - Jesus gives us advice and guidance to show us the best way to live.

See if you can learn our special school Psalm off by heart!

Our School Prayer

Our school prayer reminds us of our values and our purpose at Bishop Aldhelm's.

Dear God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit,

Please give us the courage to stand up in a crowd,

Please give us the unity to work together,

Please let us have inspiration so that we can encourage one another,

Please give us love and let us learn from Your selfless love,

Please give us the strength to keep these values for the rest of our lives.

Hear this, dear Lord,

This prayer from all our hearts.

Amen
